Certified Release Inspector

At Sheffield Forgemasters, we have an exciting opportunity for a Certified Release Inspector to join our team.

This role is based at our 64-acre site in the heart of Sheffield and forms part of our Quality team. Our Quality department ensures that our products meet internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations through robust quality assurance and control processes.

As a Certified Release Inspector, you will ensure the integrity, compliance, and timely delivery of quality assurance documentation that underpins product certification, customer confidence, and regulatory compliance. You will also support the maintenance and continuous improvement of our Quality Management System and act as the customer's on-site representative during in-process quality gate reviews where delegated authority arrangements apply. 

What you'll be doing

• Ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
• Compile manufacturing data packs, inspection records, certificates, and final manufacturing record books.
• Track documentation against production milestones and support customer quality gate reviews.
• Maintain document control, version management, traceability, and configuration records.
• Support the management and closure of non-conformances, concessions, and corrective actions.
• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Inspection, and Supply Chain teams to ensure records are accurate and up to date.
• Support internal and external audits and contribute to continuous improvement of quality processes and systems.
• Act as the customer's on-site representative where delegated authority arrangements apply. 

About You

• Experience in document control, quality assurance, or inspection within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of quality management systems, controlled documentation, and traceability requirements.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Confident reviewing technical documentation and identifying gaps, errors, or non-conformances.
• Experienced in using document management systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
• Proactive, solutions-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.
• Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

The Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We offer flexibility in our start and finish times between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 - 18:00.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. People working with government / MOD assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.

These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 - 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
