The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

 

Based at our 64 acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Heat Treatment Operative. This role will involve operating heat treatment equipment to produce hardened steel rolls.

 

Role Responsibilities

 

 

North & Wast Treatment Plants.

Learn all activities within Heat Treatment such as:

•           Learn how to charge furnaces for quenching/Air cooling of forgings.

•           Contacting forgings using temperature control thermocouples.

•           Slinging training.

•           Crane driver training.

 

 

 

 

3 Press

Learn all activities within 3 Press such as:

•           Furnace charging of forgings and blooms.

•           2nd lead hand tasks.

•           Press driving.

•           Crane driving.

•           Forge lead hand role.

 

 

 

 

5 Press

Learn all activities within 5 Press such as:

•           Furnace charging of forgings and blooms.

•           2nd lead hand tasks.

•           Press driving.

•           Crane driving.

•           Forge lead hand role.

 

 

 

PCC (Process Control Centre.)

Learn all activities within the PCC department such as:

•           Mestec data capture system.

•           Furnace control.

•           Thermocouple usage.

•           Documentation control for heat treatment and forge activities.

•           Department planning of daily activities.

•           Heat Treatment supervision and planning of the department.

 

 

About You

For internal applicants, training will be provided, however the following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.

•           Willingness to learn

•           Self-motivated with the ability to be flexible and use own initiative

•           Ability to work within safety procedures

 

 

 

 

Days/Hours of Work

 

40 hours per week days Monday to Friday to start with, then moving onto shifts.
