Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Steam Plant Operative to work in our Melting department. This role will involve operating and monitoring the steam plant, river water systems & associated plant, ensuring steam is readily available to meet production requirements and water is available across site to meet quench requirements.

 

 

Role Responsibilities

 

  • Operation and monitoring of the steam plant, river pumps and associated equipment to meet Melting Department requirements.

 

  • Overseeing, operating and controlling river water pumps, ring main system and reservoir.

 

  • Monitor plant operation and maintain accurate records.

 

  • Undertake first line plant maintenance, as and when required.

 

  • Undertake Chemical analysis tests on steam generator feed water, record all results and adjust dosing as required.

 

 

About You

 

 

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.

 

 

  • Experience in a similar role is a distinct advantage, however training will be provided to undertake this role.

 

  • Previous experience in an engineering role is highly desirable.

 

  • IT literate, proficient using MS Office software.

 

  • Ability to produce reports on a regular basis and on time.

 

  • Excellent proven interpersonal and communication skills, confident and comfortable in reporting and providing feedback.

 

Days/Hours of Work

 

 

Average of 40 hours per week. Days: Monday-Wednesday 06.00-18.00 Thursday 06.00-14.00. Nights: Monday-Wednesday 06.00-18.00.
