It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.
Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Refractory Bricklayer. This role will involve maintaining & repairing all refractory needs, prepare & re-lining ladles and the Electric Arc Furnace to achieve the melting plans.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare ladles to meet production requirements.
- Casting of various lids / heat shields using refractory concrete, spraying of casting pits and tanks.
- Refurbishment of large ingot heads to production requirements.
- Re-lining and periodic repairs of the Electric Arc Furnace.
- Planning, organising and producing quality services.
About You
The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.
- Ability to read and understand bricking diagrams.
- Good initiative to complete tasks to meet production deadlines, with minimum supervision.
- Awareness of health & safety and working within safety procedures.
- Experience with all refractory installation techniques.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to be flexible and use own initiative
Days/Hours of Work
40 hours per week: Monday to Friday 06:00 - 14:00.
